Round 1 Adelaide Weekend Warriors huge night - 29 November 2003
(Dom)
All involved were proud to be part of a successful Weekend Warrior concert on Saturday night @ Fowlers Live on the 29 November. Five new bands performed while the audience danced & chanted - and what about that Crowd? Great turnout of family & friends!
Opening up with the great sounds of THE WHO ARE WE. A raunchy band which opened with Kevin singing Rock around the clock and had the crowd going right from the start. Claire joined the stage afterwards and just kept the vibe going with a great list of tunes including a great version of Would I Lie to You. Great job guys. Other members included Jean-Pierre on Harmonica, Adam on guitar, Greg on Drums, Jack on Guitar & our own rock Bass chick Charlie.
When the next band HIP JOINT rolled onto the stage in matching T-shirts, we knew we were ready for a huge night. Performing with Tony on Vocals such hits as Sunny Afternoon and Ruby Tuesday the crowd just wanted more. Two ladies were reported to have broken through security but were eventually cut off before jumping on stage. These guys were smokin'. Well done to the other members Dave, Lou, Peter, Roland and Phil!
8 AM were fronted by Justine on lead vocals. She sang a run of hit songs including "Born to be Wild" and "Lightning Crashes" and just had the crowd pumping. What a great Rock voice. Justine was also joined on Vocals by Kym who also played Bass. This guy has never played in a band - what a start - fantastic. Rumours are he picked up at the gig. This was never in the programme manual, maybe he is writing his own. They were supported by the very talented band of Chris on Guitar (who originally was not sure of doing this programme and is now converted), John on Drums (never had a lesson), Jumpin' Jason on Guitar, Shane with plenty of Power Watts also on guitar. Man they rocked more than they rolled!
The next act was Lost Chords, wearing matching vests they were dressed to Rock. Rockin with hits such as Back in the USSR, Twist & Shout, Knock on Wood. Well, they had the crowd begging for more... and the audience got more and more great songs. The whole band pumped with Natasha on Vocals, Howard on Drums, Dave on guitar & vocals, Lindsay on guitar & vocals, Tom on guitar & vocals and his wife our rock legend bass chick Charlie.
Last but not least SILVER HAIR, what can I say these guys had it all, Rock, Soul you name it. They delivered a well thought out set with an awesome display of vocal ability from Karyn & Don. Singing such hits as Son of a Preacher Man, Can't Always Get What You Want plus many more great tunes. The band was tight and held together with Rhythm section - our Man Dave on bass (he gets around), Phil on Drums who also played in two bands, JP on guitar - Rock on - and Michael on guitar. (I remember having the conversation with him as he felt he would not cut this playing in a band thing) WRONG! You did mate and I would reckon he has been bitten like the rest of 'em.
Well done to the coaches, Reverend Tom & Tony (Stage Roady) if any of you would like to share your story, we would luv to hear from you, Just reply to the email & I will include it in our list of many testimonials.
